I was so busy this week reading actual books and the actual newspaper that I didn’t have much time to collect many articles.
I am reading three books right now, two autobiographies and one work of fiction. I started rereading E. Stanley Jones’ Song of Ascents a few weeks ago, and have been making my way through it slowly. I heard about Stanley Jones a year before my first trip to India. A friend thought that it was so important that I read Christ of the Indian Road by Jones that we went to Kinko’s and spent about $60 photocopying the book when he heard that I was considering going to India (we thought it was out of print). Jones quickly became one of my favorite authors. I find myself going back to Christ of the Indian Road while reading Song of Ascents.
In addition to Song of Ascents, I have been working through Miles Davis’ autobiography Miles. Reading Mile’s own words about how he heard music, how he thought about it has been an amazing journey for me.
When I need a break from those I take pulls from The Brothers Karamazov, which I last read in winter of 2006.
When I am not busy starting books that will take me nine months to finish, this is what I have been reading:

PS – The Holy Hoboes are playing a show on June 17th at the Jewel Box Theater in Seattle.
